cockroaches are found over the world. there are more than 3500 species of cockroaches from them only three species are most common in our country American, Oriental and German Cockroach
Habitat
Cockroaches has abilitie to travel shafts, drains, elevator and tiny cracks and crevices. Besicaly Cockroach are found , Pantries, Kitchen, Bar & restaurants, Garbage collection, disposal areas, Cafeteria, Cortoon boxes, Egg Caretes, Behind the refrigerator, etc.
The Role of Cockroaches:
The indoor environment seems to have a greater impact on the incidence of asthma than the outdoor environment. Domestic cockroaches are present in the indoor environments of many human dwellings and other buildings and long have been associated with allergies in humans Human and experimental animal sensitization to cockroach allergens has been associated with species.
American cockroach
Scientific name (Periplaneta americana (L) and they are 1.3 – 1.7 inches long. Some grow 2 inches long also. This species are (reddish brown) and slightly yellow band on the back of his heads. American Cockroach has two wings that can help to fly. Female cockroach can be produce more than 350 nymphs in his entire life. and most important that Female cockroachs life begger than males and they prefer humid and wet environments this species exist all over the world not only India. They are omnivores species. They love to eat fermenting fruits, Eggs, Bread, Sweets, Jam, Jelly, Jegrry etc.
Germen Cockroach
This species found in degradation of leaves, plants and garbage area, but also found cartons boxes, sacks, egg carets, containers, underneath of cracked tiles, Gas Cylinder, Door Hinges, under the oven parts, grinder, and empty bottles.
This species is most common in Indian households. and his life cycle 100 -110 days. According to research females produce 400- 450 ootheca. and each and every ootheca case or Capsule contains 35- 40 eggs which are light brown color and Ootheca 7 mm long & 2 mm wide in size and shape.
Brownbanded Cockroach
This species life cycle approximately 200-210 days, body size 10- 14mm long and body colour light brown. Mostly they were found behind the picture frame, kitchen cabinets, Oven, under the Gas Cylinder, Grinder, bathroom area etc. The female produces 10-20 barrel shaped ootheca in his entire life and Ootheca case length 4-5mm and each ootheca has 14-18 eggs
Precautions
- Keep Kitchen Clean after foods
- Food containers should be sealed tightly.
- Water leakage pipes should be repaired especially in the dish in the washing area.
- Don”t place the food and beverage Cardboard box in the kitchen which directly comes from the market.
- Seal cracks and crevices
